In Ministry of Finance we have successfully configured a total of four HP/Compaq Proliant DL580 rack mountable servers, Pentium Xeon 1.4GHz 4 processor capable generation 2 servers. All servers for MoFPED is having 2 processors and each of them can be upgraded to 4 processors if requirement arises.

There is one 36U server rack is used for holding the Primary MAIL, Domain controller and NAS Filer servers in main finance building, this same configuration is replicated in UCS building with a fiber optic and Wireless connection as backbone interconnect.

The four servers are used to different purposes and scenarios as shown below:

•  Two DL580 servers for Lotus domino mail servers in Primary and secondary (One server MFPED building and another in UCS building) configurations.

•  Two DL580 Domain Controller servers for Active directory and user authentication, primary and secondary DNS with DHCP.

All the Primary site servers will have two 36GB HDD in RAID 1 (Mirror), so the operating system in each of these servers is mirrored hence to increase the availability on OS failures. All the primary servers in MFPED building stores their important data in HP Network Attached Storage (NAS) filers. Then these NAS filer replicates the entire data real-time to UCS building Nasser road via fiber backbone using NAS Data copy software.

AS Data Copy is a host-based data replication package that allows data to be replicated over TCP/IP in either a synchronous or asynchronous mode. One-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-many replication is supported along with failover and failback capabilities.
